Saturday April 16

I was sick in bed all of Feb & most of March with a bad ear infection.  Then just as I got well, the company I work for as a CNA got slammed and I worked 100 hours 3 weeks in a row till they hired more staff.  Things have calmed down and I'm trying to get my fitness back up as it suffered from my being laid up.

CA is coming up for a visit this week on his way to visit old friends and his ex wife in Tallahassee. He hasn't seen any of them in over 40 years and I convinced him to go visit since we are getting older and you never know...

My room mate Katie is going down to house sit for him while he travels since his cat is old and he worries about leaving it alone.  Then she is going up to Michigan to visit her folks for a few weeks.
I'm guessing it will take me 6-8 weeks to get my conditioning back  up to par so I can get back to the MMA training.  I am enjoying going for bike rides daily as well as hitting the pool & going for hikes.........things I have no time for once I am doing the mma training. I'm taking this time to work on my flexibility and muscle imbalances.  My right leg continues to atrophy even with weightlifting.  I have 3 different injuries in that leg that are contributing to it's demise.  I am going to work with a Chiropractor down in Jupiter that does ART (Active Release Therapy) and hope that takes care of some of the issues.

March 24th

I finally got the Doctors to give me strong enough antibiotics with a very long duration since they had me on so many low dose ones that I am sure I had some resistant bacteria left over.  This stuff was $440. for a 21 day run....ugh!

The bad part is, this stuff is hell on tendons, so I will have to be super careful with my training.  Tendon ruptures are common with this class of antibiotics.

March 5th.......a whole month!

Talk about sick!

I thought it was cauiliflower ear 6 months ago and just let it go but it ended up being a bad ear infection I couldn't get rid of.  Finally I got so sick I couldn't get out of bed for 3 weeks.  I'm on the mend!  Just starting back at the gym a bit.  It was scarey bad!

Only good thing is I am leaner but lost no muscle! I have a new lust for life and our precious health! and can't wait to get back to graoppling again!

Here is some inspiration I watched while healing...................

Sunday February 6th

I have been needing to work a bit to bring some more money in but any jobs I looked at would have made it hard to train the way I have been.  Then I got a call that was the perfect job for the classes I am taking!  It will be hard, but it is possible!

Kaite has lost close to 10 pounds since she arrived here January 20th .  She has followed the diet I put her on and in the morning when I stretch out, she does her weight lifting.  Then she goes to ATT with me and does her hour of cardio there during my class.

Luckily Katie is doing a good job keeping that house cleaned and organised, cooking my foods, having my cooler filled with my days worth of food, having my gym bag ready for each class and washing all my training clothes so I always have fresh ones for each class.  I couldn't be doing all this without her help!

Here is my new schedule with my work hours in red:

5:30 - 7am          Warm-up and then an hour of stretching

7:30 - 8:00          Drive to work

8:00 - 10am        Work

10:00 - 10:30      Drive to Practice

11am - 12:30      Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at American Top Team

1pm - 2pm          Private lesson with Shane

2:30 - 3:00          Drive to work

3:00 - 5pm          Work

5pm  - 6:00          Run home and shower, pick up fresh clothes, eat and then Drive to Practice

6:30 - 8:00pm      No-Gi at the Forge (Monday & Wednesday)
        *or*
6:00 - 8:30pm      Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at American Top Team (Tuesday & Thursday)

Went to the beach on Wednesday, I needed to relax after a hard day of training on Tuesday.  There was a Dolphin 10 feet from shore chasing fish the whole time.  It was beautiful.

Tuesday February 1st

Oh my gosh!  Today as a rough day!  I did 4 grappling & BJJ classes for a total of 5and a half hours of training.  One at 11am, one at 3pm then a beginners class at 6pm and right after that an intermediate class at 7pm.

I tossed and turned all night due to my stiff sore muscles and the friction burn on my elbow that I keep opening up while training. I hurt my right knee 2 days ago and that as bugging me as much as my arm injury. Pain always keeps me awake at night.

The conditioning segment at ATT is always tough and I had an hour of that between the 3 classes I took at ATT.  Then there were some take-downs and getting thrown to the ground is always a bit hard on my body.

Saturday January 29th

I went over to Orlando for the "Submission Only" event.  I was originally going to just go watch since I messed up my shoulder but I took my gear just in case AI was motivated to compete.  I was motivated but no other females showed up, so I couldn't wrestle anyone.

It was a fun day and I watched a lot of good matches and met some new friends.

Thursday January 27th

I have my schedule set up for training at the 2 gyms. I did it today and it was a bit exhausting but do-able. The biggest part is eating around training.  Katie is here and helping me immensely with food preparation and organization of my life so I can rest in-between training sessions.  Her training is going well, she lost 4lbs this week.

8:30 - 10am       Warm-up and then an hour of stretching

11am - 12:30      Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at American Top Team

1pm - 2pm          Private lesson with Shane

6:30 - 8:00pm     No-Gi at the Forge (Monday & Wednesday)
        *or*
6:00 - 8:30pm     Brazilian Jiu Jitsu at American Top Team (Tuesday & Thursday)
